About Us

Lifelong fans of analog photobooths, we’ve spent decades tracking down the few that remain - travelling the world in search of booths rumoured to still be in operation, digging into their history, and learning from the small community of technicians and owners who have fought to keep these machines alive. What began as a childhood fascination grew into a long, hands-on journey, and that path is what ultimately led to the creation of Four Poses.

Analog booths are incredibly rare today, with fewer than 250 still operating worldwide. While Canada once had hundreds, there are now only six in Vancouver and two in Toronto. After years of searching, restoring, sourcing parts, and rebuilding machines piece by piece (including some that originally came from Canada), we finally found a way to bring a small number home so more people in Canada can experience real analog photobooths again.

These booths are more than machines. They’re mechanical, chemical, tactile pieces of history. Their parts haven’t been manufactured in decades, and in 2020 the last specialized photochemical paper manufacturer for photobooths shut down overnight, nearly wiping out analog booths entirely. Only a tiny, dedicated network of technicians keeps them running - and it’s through that community that we learned how to do what we do.

In particular, the generosity and mentorship of Breanna Conley Saxon and Autophoto played a meaningful role in helping us develop the skills required to restore and maintain these booths the right way. Their openness is why this world still exists at all, and we’re proud to now stand alongside them in carrying it forward.

Restoring our booths has taken time, money, mentorship, persistence, and a lot of patience -  but it has always been a labour of love.

Because when you sit in an analog photobooth, you don’t just take a photo, you leave with a tangible memory.
